About

Who writes Mon GR20?

Mon GR20 is Rodolphe Bussers's personal trip report after a full North-South thru-hike of the GR20 in 12 days, from 18 to 29 August 2025, alongside Benjamin all the way to Conca.

The author

Rodolphe Bussers

I'm the author of Mon GR20 and the site's main narrator. Here I bring together my hands-on trip report: the stages I actually walked, how I split them up, the gear I used, the budget, the difficulties I ran into, and the advice I wish I'd read before setting off.

What I bring

The site is built on a hike I lived through, GPS tracks, field notes, photos taken during the trip, and genuine hindsight on what worked and what didn't.

What I don't claim to be

Mon GR20 is not an official guidebook, nor a guarantee that conditions will be the same for you. The mountains, the weather, the refuges, and the state of the trails can all change.

Hiking companion

Benjamin

Benjamin hiked the GR20 with me all the way to Conca. He's very much part of this story: in the preparation, in managing the long days, in the decisions made on the ground, and in the moments when we had to adapt rather than push through.

Why mention him: this site recounts an experience lived as a pair after the first day. Some key decisions, such as the long breaks, the adjustments to the stages, or the recovery in Vizzavona, make more sense with this shared dimension.

Background

Why this site exists

The GR20 project was born among friends several years before we set off. Arnaud sparked the idea, and the preparation really took shape in 2024. In August 2025, we set out from Calenzana with the urge to cross Corsica on foot, without turning the adventure into a race.

After the first day, Arnaud had to stop because of an ankle injury. Benjamin and I carried on to Conca. It's this full thru-hike, with all its adjustments and surprises, that the whole site is built on.

Trip report

The pages recount what we actually went through, stage after stage.

Field data

The distances, elevation gain, and times come from our GPS tracks and remain indicative.

Useful preparation

The goal is to help you prepare for a real GR20, with its margins and its limits.

Transparency

Independent, non-sponsored site

Mon GR20 is an independent personal site. It is not sponsored, and the content isn't written to sell a refuge, a brand, or an organisation. The opinions on gear, refuges, meals, and budget come from our hands-on experience.

What you can expect

An honest account, practical advice, useful figures, and an unapologetically personal tone.

What you should check

Before you set off, always verify the official information, your bookings, the weather conditions, whether the refuges are open, and any local restrictions.
