The profile climbs to 1,982 m then drops to the resort, over ground less exposed than the previous day. It's a shorter day, useful for recovering before the alpine stage ahead. The Ascu Stagnu hut below marks a real break in the trip — more mountain-resort atmosphere than isolated bivouac.
Haut-Asco is road-accessible: it's a possible escape route and the starting point for the standard route up Monte Cinto, Corsica's highest peak, for those who want a detour off the GR20.
Water & resupply. Haut-Asco is a confirmed genuine resupply point, with a well-stocked shop and a bar-restaurant — a chance to top up supplies before the more isolated stretch ahead. The hut also offers a hot shower, welcome after three days of effort.
